The Week in Review at HMS: Notes from Dr. Cockley

Week of March 2, 2026

Congratulations to two of our OUTSTANDING middle school students, Aiden Tavana and Andrew Shott. Both were recognized at the OMLA Breakfast of Champions in Independence, for their character, leadership, scholarship, and service. They make a difference EVERY DAY at HMS!

Pretzel Day! Thanks to our HMS German Club, in honor of the partnership of Hudson and our sister city (Landsberg, Germany), students were offered a German pretzel during lunch on Thursday!

6th Grade students participate in a Digital Citizenship lesson in our media center - meaningful, real-life learning for our students about protecting their identify and being safe online!

Love these book sculptures in art class! Students are personalizing their creative sculptures through color, design, and even 3D printed enhancements!

  • For those who didn't purchase through Josten's: These parents/guardians received a Final Forms email about this Second Chance Buy Sale, and these students received a form to take home as well.

Message from The Attendance Desk: Advanced Absence Forms

  • Leaving for Vacation or an extended absence?
  • Please have your child fill out an Advanced Absence Form, available in the office, no more than 2 weeks prior to their absences. This allows the teachers time to have their lessons available for the time your students will miss school.
  • Reporting or requesting Advanced Absence Forms earlier than 2 weeks ahead can lead to inaccurate attendance.

Message from The Attendance Desk: Early Pick-Up Info for March 20, 2026:

  • We have an adjusted schedule on Friday, March 20, for our annual school-wide Student-Staff Basketball Game Pep Assembly at the end of the day!
  • If you are picking your child up early for any reason, please do so by 2:00pm (prior to the assembly, as calling students to the office from the gymnasium will be challenging).
  • As always, students should arrive with a note, in the morning, to the Attendance office, where they will receive a dismissal pass.

Did You Miss the HPD Presentation “What You Don’t Know and Why You Should”?

  • If you were unable to attend, the link to the recorded session (thanks to HCTV) is here: https://reflect-city-hudson-oh.cablecast.tv/internetchannel/show/3991?site=1
  • Recently, members of our Hudson Police Department presented a session to families and adults that was informative and relevant. We are so grateful to HPD and also Hudson Community First for providing this presentation!
