The Week in Review at HMS: Notes from Dr. Cockley

Week of January 19, 2026

Hope everyone stayed warm and cozy during this SHORT week!

Global connections in action! 6th graders Zoomed with Edna, a former Orkeeswa School student from Tanzania (now in Buffalo) asking thoughtful questions and making meaningful connections.

7th grade students researched a person or group they felt deserved recognition, wrote an argumentative essay, and brought their learning to life by designing small-scale 3D museum exhibits.

8th grade students hold a discussion about the historical fiction book they’ve just read, in their author series. Such insightful questions and thoughts - our students are amazing!

From scale drawings to circuits to storytelling - 7th grade students collaborate on interdisciplinary electrical house projects that blend STEM, writing, and geography.

Thank you to our incredible donors for making Hands of Gratitude happen for our Service Learning & Careers students! With this new semester of students, Hands of Gratitude founder, Matt Campana, is here to share about the global connections and recipients that our students will be part of, making a true difference in the world!
