The Week in Review at HMS: Notes from Dr. Cockley

Week of January 12, 2026

Thank you to all who made the “Charting Your Course” orientation event a success! Our 8th graders LOVED seeing the high school, learning about scheduling opportunities, and hearing from student leaders. What a phenomenal morning!

Our high school staff facilitators and student leaders were OUTSTANDING! Thanks, too, to our amazing transportation department for your help getting us there and back…and to Hudson Community First for your support in making this day possible for our students (and for the gifts!!)

Teamwork in action! Students compete in a fun group game using crossword puzzles and definitions to reinforce their PowerBall vocabulary words.

7th grade Science students learn about circuits as they work on wiring their model houses, putting their hands-on learning into practice.

Our incredible media center specialist models how to preview a book, helping students decide if it’s a great fit and worthy of their TBR (To Be Read) list.

One word, many goals. Students share their New Year’s resolutions through words that inspire growth and reflection.

Important Notes:

Reminder - No School on Monday, January 19, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Supporting a Great Start Each Day - AM Drop Off Time Reminders:

  • To help our students’ school day start smoothly, please remember that HMS Homeroom begins promptly at 7:50 AM
  • Students should arrive and enter the main door by 7:40 AM, allowing enough time to visit their lockers and get to class ready to learn.
  • Thank you for your continued support in helping our mornings run smoothly - we truly appreciate it!
