The Week in Review at HMS: Notes from Dr. Cockley

Thank you and congratulations to our October Students Making a Difference! These students are kind, inclusive, conscientious, and full of sunshine! Thank you for making a difference in our school every day! ⁦

Some of our 7th graders explored nature on our POE day, with their kindergartener buddies! LOVE this collaboration!

Thank you to Ms. DiMartino, Assistant Prosecutor in Summit County, for presenting “Be Kind and Smart Online” to our students in grade-level assemblies, on our Portrait of an Explorer Day.

Career Exploration in 8th grade, with Mrs. Streby! Students in Service Learning & Careers complete an interest survey and then research career clusters, to learn more about opportunities, future outlook, and educational pathways. Our students were deeply engaged in this personalized learning!

Important Notes:

No School for Students, Monday, 11/11

  • A reminder that school is not in session for students on Monday, November 11, due to Staff Professional Development (grades 6-12) and Records Day (PreK- 5).

Holiday Sharing 2024 - HMS is collecting canned food items – through 11/20.

We have a school-wide goal of 2 cans (or $2) per student, to help local families in need. Please consider helping us ACHIEVE, or SURPASS, this goal!

  • HMS students are asked to bring in non-expired canned goods for donation. Since these cans will be used long past Thanksgiving, please consider donating a variety of foods (click here for a detailed list of requested items).
  • Science teachers are collecting the cans and monetary donations in their classrooms.
  • This is an opportunity to help out our own community and the children and families who live here. Your kindness and generosity will make a positive difference during the holidays for the families of Hudson.
  • We appreciate your help!

11/21 Thanksgiving Luncheon

  • One of our favorite days of the year is just around the corner! Our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon will be Tuesday, 11/21, with extended lunches for each grade. Our wonderful cooks are preparing a traditional feast of roasted turkey, sides, cookies, and milk. The student price for this meal is $3.75.
  • This will be the only menu item available that day, so if this menu is not to the student’s liking, please pack a lunch.
  • The students will be served by their teachers and staff.

Thank you to members of our Orchestra for providing entertainment!
