Week of November 18, 2024
Thank you, thank you, thank you to our amazing kitchen staff for the delicious Thanksgiving Luncheon on Thursday! This is truly a highlight in our school year, because it reminds us that we are a family, as a school and community! Thank you to all who served (students AND staff!). Happy Thanksgiving!
6th grade students present their inventions to a panel of judges (thank you to our parent/community volunteers!!) Our students were so impressive with their creativity and knowledge!!
Card sort activity in math class, to help students make connections between a graph, table, visual representation, and constant of proportionality! Such great mathematical conversations!!
Sculpture class! Students apply the first coat of paint to their creations!
8th grade students visit a “museum” of suspenseful short stories, written by their peers!
7th grade Language Arts students collaborate to create a Story Map, documenting the key elements from the story…and text evidence to support their thinking.
Our 7th grade Science students designed cars in BlocksCAD that are then printed right here at HMS on our 3D printers! Soon, they’ll paint them and race them. Such a fun way to explore force and motion!
Thank you to our HMS Student Council for sharing their thankfulness for our HMS staff, by bringing a staff treat cart throughout our hallways! Lots of smiles and joy today!
Important Notes:
HMS Announcements - Please feel free to visit this site daily for up-to-date announcements for our students and school!
Important Reminders from our Attendance Office:
- A friendly reminder to please send your child with a note in the morning to the attendance office (just within the main office) if you know ahead of time that you'll be picking them up early. This provides notice to our office staff and enables your child to meet you promptly in the attendance office. If you did not send in a note with your child, please bring your photo ID with you when arriving to pick up your child, and please be prepared to wait for your child to arrive from class - thank you for your patience and understanding.
- In addition, if your child will be missing school for a planned time away, please have them fill out an Advanced Absence Form, available in the Main Office. These forms are an important communication tool between the student and their teachers and will be noted upon being filled out and returned to the Attendance Office.
Hudson Community First has sponsored many events for Hudson parents and children this school year. Check out our newsletter for more info: NEWS | Hudson Community First and the Resource page on our website for links to view the parent presentations.
HMS Staff Shout Outs:
- Has an HMS staff member made a difference for your child? We love to show appreciation for our amazing staff at HMS! Here’s an opportunity to share more personally if a staff member has made a difference, no matter how big or small. I will be sure to recognize their efforts individually and quietly.
