The Week in Review at HMS: Notes from Dr. Cockley

HMS wishes you a wonderful holiday season, from our family to yours!  We are so grateful for our students, staff, families, and community. 

During this last week of school in 2024, we enjoyed a number of student-led festivities, including Holiday Spirit Wear; music assemblies showcasing our 8th grade Orchestra, our HMS Jazz Band, and our HMS Show Choir; and a Winter Pep Assembly led by HMS Student Council with many friendly and fun competitions.    

What a wonderful week that celebrates what we are all about: relationships!

Our student musicians ROCKED today! WOW!!! Thank you to our 8th grade Orchestra, our HMS Show Choir, and our HMS Jazz Band for sharing your talents and hard work with all of us, in grade level assemblies! A highlight of our day today, and a beautiful tradition at HMS!

 

Ending the day with our student-led Pep Assembly! A TON OF ENERGY and a lot of fun! Thank you Student Council for your leadership and planning!
 

 

Operation Warm Feet! Thanks to our 6 Service community for collecting socks to donate to the Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron. This year, the team collected over 1900 socks!!

 

We are so impressed with our students' projects, as part of the Akron-Summit Holocaust Art and Writing Contest. These are just a few of the many AMAZING works our students created. 

 

8th Grade Service Learning students working on their rooftop greenhouse projects! These students are planting native seeds to winter germinate and grow for 2nd semester Service Learning students to plant to help pollinators and the environment!

 

So much fun celebrating the winter season as a staff family at our holiday luncheon! Thanks to ⁦our HMS PTO⁩ for helping with this special day!!

Quarter 2 Report Cards and Information:

• Quarter 2 report cards will be available by Friday, January 10, at 4:00pm in HAC. 
• Each quarter, the report card is available electronically by clicking on the Grades icon in HAC. Once there, click on the Print button in the upper right corner to view the Report Card on our official middle school report card template. You can then choose to print, save, or simply view the report card.
• A paper copy of the report card is sent home only for the first and last quarter of the school year.
• At Hudson Middle School, we calculate Honor Rolls for Semester 1 and Semester 2.

 

Six District Compact Career Program Showcase:

• Attention Middle & High School Families, you are invited on January 7 between 4:30-6 p.m. to the Career Program Showcase at Kent State University to tour the exhibits of the 29 Career-Technical Education programs within the Six District Compact.
