Week of 12/11/23
The Week in Review at HMS: Notes from Dr. Cockley
What a wonderful service project! It's “Operation Warm Feet” in 6 Service, collecting sock donations for the Haven of Rest! Students have collected 498 pairs of socks towards our goal of 1200. 4 days to go…!
7th grade Social Studies students are making a scaled replica of Rome! Integrating multiple subject areas into one HUGE project, and collaborating with students between class periods!
Important Notes:
HMS Announcements - Please feel free to visit this site daily for up-to-date announcements for our students and school!
Wednesday, 12/20: Important Information if You're Picking Up Early
- We have an adjusted schedule on Wednesday, December 20, as we celebrate our last day before Winter Break with beautiful music assemblies in the morning, and a school-wide Pep Assembly at the end of the day!
- If you are picking your child up early for any reason, please do so by 2:00pm (before the pep assembly).
- As always, students should notify Mrs. Brodbeck in the Attendance office in the morning that they will be leaving early.
HMS Holiday Spirit Days!
Thank you to our HMS Student Council for planning fun holiday spirit days leading up to our Winter Break!
- Monday, Dec. 18: Summer in December! Wear summer colors/clothes or Hawaiian shirts
- Tuesday, Dec. 19: Holiday Headgear! Wear your holiday hats, glasses, hair accessories, etc.
- Wednesday, Dec. 20: Winter Wonderland! 8th graders wear gray, 7th graders wear blue & 6th graders wear white to prepare for our winter pep assembly!
End of Day Pickup Information
- A special request/reminder from our maintenance and transportation staff: Please do not pick up your child after school in the gravel lot between the HMS and Evamere. Our maintenance employees and bus drivers are having difficulty getting through.
- Our pickup process and traffic pattern can be found on our website. Please enter via Oviatt and pick up your child in the front circle.
- Thank you so much for your help with this, to ensure our students' safety.
HMS Talent Show!
- HMS has talent! We will be sharing next week on announcements that HMS is hosting a middle school Talent Show on February 9!
- Interested students can pick up an Audition Packet at the Student Resource Center (SRC) before Winter Break. Audition Permission Forms are due to the SRC by January 10.
- More information will be shared as the event nears! We can't wait to see our students shine!
Greetings from the Attendance Desk and the Clinic,
- It's that time of year when sniffles and sneezes are being passed around. Our school has the privilege of having Nurse Becca with us at Hudson Middle School. If your child is ill throughout the school day, we ask that they first visit Nurse Becca, instead of calling/texting on their own for a parent pick up. This allows the student to be seen by a medical professional for a medical dismissal. Students who leave without visiting the clinic will be noted as a Bypass, not a medically excused absence.
Thank you for your assistance, Tammy Brodbeck Attendance Secretary
HMS Staff Shout Outs:
- Has an HMS staff member made a difference for your child? We love to show appreciation for our amazing staff at HMS! Here’s an opportunity to share more personally if a staff member has made a difference, no matter how big or small. I will be sure to recognize their efforts individually and quietly.
